To increase knowledge and skills to care for people affected by dementia.

Suitable for anyone working in health and social care settings. 

Methods

Presentation, discussion, interactive rehearsals/demonstrations, simulation and small group work.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this short course, participants should be able to:

  • To be able to describe what dementia is and how it affects people (including significant others, family and carers)
  • To explore behaviour as a form of communication
  • To develop compassionate management approaches
  • To consider the impact of the environment
