Learn with us Training Courses Body Guard T Pump Training Aim This session is to update existing knowledge, and to safely practice and explore the reasons for setting up and managing a patient requiring a syringe driver. The use of the T34 syringe driver is a simple and effective way to administer subcutaneous medication to control symptoms and the appropriate and expert use in palliative care can transform patients' comfort and wellbeing at the end of life. This workshop includes a practical session in setting up the syringe driver. A McKinley T34 syringe driver will be used during this training session. Participants Registered nurses and users of the CME Medical T34 syringe driver. Methods Presentation, discussion, demonstration and practical. Learning outcomes At the end of this workshop, participants should be able to: To understand professional accountability To know the advantages and disadvantages of the use of a syringe driver To become aware of the common medications used To recognise the importance of essential conversations and consent To know how to identify preferred sites To know how to monitor and perform safety checks and trouble shooting Inserting / practising Saf – T – Intima Use of Body Guard T Pump We will provide a certificate of attendance only. This session will not check or sign off competencies of setting up a syringe driver or administering drugs; a policy will need to be in place in your own workplace to ensure competencies are checked within the team.
