Overview

This two-hour workshop is to enable Registered Nurses who wish to take on the extended role of Verification of Expected Adult Death, or to update existing knowledge and skill within this role.

The need for timely verification of death is widely recognised, to help relieve the anxiety and distress of families and to relieve the pressure of overstretched GPs and out of hours services.

Timely verification - within one hour in a hospital setting and four hours in a community setting - is an important stage in the grieving process for relatives and a key time for support.

  • To gain the theoretical knowledge required to proceed to an assessment in clinical practice
