Many people put off writing their Will as they expect it to be complicated. However, in reality, it is relatively simple and a legal adviser can guide you through the process.

We have partnered with Bequeathed to offer you a FREE online Will-writing service that allows you to make a simple Will in a way that suits you best. The service helps you consider everything you need to think about when making a Will, and identifies issues where legal advice could be valuable. If you want legal advice, the service connects you to a solicitor who'll give you a price to help you complete your Will face-to-face or over the phone. There is no obligation to include a gift in your Will to Mountbatten but many people like you do.

You can also write your own will or ask a legal advisor such as a solicitor or Will writing service to draft it for you. Click here for a list of Wills, Probate and Trust solicitors on the Isle of Wight.

Before drafting your Will, whether online or in-person with a solicitor, you will need to:

  • Make a list of everything you own – including property, money, shares, investments, life insurance policies, and all your valuables and possessions
  • Work out the value of these assets
  • Decide who should benefit from your estate, e.g. family, friends, charities
  • Decide who to appoint as your executor(s), i.e. the people who will administer your estate

We are working on a 'Make a Will' pack which will contain practical advice and useful guidance to help you when drafting your Will. The pack will be free and if you would like to pre-order a copy, please email us.
