A Greek Night with a piano performance by Costas Panayotidis, who studied piano for 12 years when he attended the renowned Athenaeum music school in Athens. In his professional life, Mr Panayotidis is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who leads early pregnancy and fertility services at St Mary’s Hospital.
The concert, which will include music from 1930 until 2200, will be a unique opportunity to listen to Greek music written or transcribed for piano. It will feature songs that are recognised around the world, but also those with a hint of nostalgia and reflections of the grander periods of Greek history. From Yanides to Chatzidakis, from Plessas and Theodorakis, the music will feature some of the composers who changed the history of music. Traditional tunes or dances and even Bouzouki music transcribed for piano will be included in the program.
A buffet of Greek food will also be on offer, as well as a selection of accompanying drinks. Tickets are just £10 and can be bought on the door.
