Head of Retail Business Development

Salary £50,000

37.5 hours per week

Location - Southampton with travel to the Isle of Wight

About the Role

The Head of Retail Business Development has strategic responsibility and oversight for the delivery of the overarching Retail function through our existing and planned Retail estate. This role is responsible for creating, developing and implementing a Retail strategy that meets and exceeds three core aims;

- Maximise the income and profit sustainability of the Retail estate, through the effective development and management of the people, resources, budgets and supply chain, as well as identifying and successfully opening new premises as part of the Mountbatten 2020 strategy.

- Create a potential ‘new model’ for some Mountbatten shops that include public education and engaging of the local community in the work of the hospice, including the sharing of information, service delivery, bereavement support and explore a new revenue stream through a food/beverage – led proposition.

- To provide overarching responsibility and leadership for the active development of the retail workforce, defining values-based development of all staff and, in conjunction with the Head of Volunteer Development, volunteers in the Mountbatten Group, to reach their full potential and become ‘Ambassadors’ for Mountbatten, through a robust organisational approach to workforce development

About You

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and will form positive relationships with peers, clinicians, and wider stakeholders. They will have a creative energy, from conceptual thinking to final output with demonstrable experience of pushing boundaries and evolving services, whilst delivering significant sales and profit growth across multiple sites, ideally in a charity retail context

They will have experience of and commitment to continuous organisational improvement and the ability to act as a change agent. Change and project management skills are a must; leading innovation in an entrepreneurial environment and a track record of developing new business models from inception to delivery in a Retail environment

Whilst not essential, they will have experience of working with the third and independent sectors and a robust knowledge of health and social care provision. and clear understanding of the environment within which the NHS, local authority and voluntary

The post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check the cost of which is covered by the Hospice.
