A special Latin jazz concert featuring the Island’s Jim Thorn and band will kick start this year’s Go Yellow for Mountbatten.

The Jim Thorn Latin Sextet will perform at Mountbatten’s John Cheverton Centre for a Go Yellow event on Thursday, October 3.

“We will be playing a selection of well-known jazz standards but concentrating on Brazilian and Latin American-influenced jazz.

“With a larger line-up enhanced by saxophone and percussion, it will be quite lively and good entertainment.

“It is always a great honour to play at Mountbatten and we are really looking forward to it.”

The centre will be decorated in yellow and the usual concert canapes and refreshments will feature a yellow theme to mark the initiative, which takes place on the following day.

“We are delighted to welcome back Jim Thorn to Mountbatten for this very special concert,” said Mountbatten chief executive Nigel Hartley.

“His quartet entertained a packed audience at the hospice in February and to have six musicians perform for us this time will be amazing.

“It promises to be a really fun night, celebrating the start of Go Yellow with an evening of fantastic music.”

The Mountbatten concert series takes place on the first Thursday of every month.
