John Cheverton Centre

Information, self-help and rehabilitation

We aim to support you to live your life to the full, until the end of your life. One of the ways we achieve this is by offering a range of services in our John Cheverton Centre, which is on the same site as the Inpatient Unit.

Our focus is on helping you to reach and achieve goals which lead to you living as independently as possible, supported by a team of professionals and volunteers. We aim to give you as much influence as we can in making your own choices about your care. This includes expert physiotherapy and occupational therapy services and a rehabilitation gym. A range of complementary therapies are available and multi-professional drop-in clinics are held in private rooms.

How do I get access to services?

Your Mountbatten Nurse will make arrangements for you to attend the John Cheverton Centre, if they feel you may benefit from the services that are on offer. The Mountbatten Nurse and John Cheverton Centre nursing staff will assess your needs and discuss with you which services you may wish to access. They will also regularly review your needs.

A social space for our Island community

The John Cheverton Centre is open to everyone, including Mountbatten patients, their families, carers, friends and the general public. The atmosphere is friendly and informal and our trained volunteers will be able to tell you what’s on offer each day and answer any queries you may have.

You are welcome to drop in at any time between 8am and 8pm to eat in the Sunflower Cafe, enjoy our art gallery and gardens or attend a group on the Mountbatten Group Programme. The Mountbatten Group Programme offers a wide range of activities and events during the daytime, evening and the weekend. A large proportion of our group sessions are open to all and a number of them require a referral by a healthcare professional.

Our wonderful Chelsea Garden can be found at the end of the John Cheverton Centre and is open to the whole community to enjoy.

Many people are surprised by the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere of the John Cheverton Centre. We hope you enjoy taking a look around with our panoramic photos
