Like all the Hospice shops, Shanklin is a welcoming place. We have a great team of approachable volunteers, always room for more… there is always time to chat to customers who often like to share their stories or their connection to the hospice. All our volunteers live locally and we are keen to become more involved in community events. We are proud to represent our Island hospice in our town.

We are the first port of call for answers to questions about donations/collections and the work of the hospice. We take in about 30 bags and boxes of donations a week and pride ourselves on the quality of the goods that we stock. You will find clothing, accessories, furniture, kitchenware, collectibles/toys and linen. One of our best sellers is books: 3 for £1, a real bargain in the town.

  Meet the team

Hi my name is Linda and I’m a relief manager for the hospice stores. I live in Shanklin and spend a lot of time in the Shanklin shop. Both the current manager Bridget and I started as volunteers for the Hospice at this store in July 2013 soon after it opened and it was the previous manager who encouraged us both to apply to progress our careers at the hospice.

My name is Mary and I have been at the Shanklin shop for 3 years since it opened.  Previously, I have worked in the warehouse at Newport and in the old Lugley Street Shop.  The reason I wanted to get involved with the charity was that I had cancer and I am one of the lucky ones.  I feel a personal involvement with the hospice and its always at the back of mind is that one day one of my family or myself may need the services.  Fun fact I am avid charity shop shopper and stock my wardrobe from the Hospice.

My name is Gloria and I joined the Shanklin shop 2 months after it opened 3 years ago and the main reason that I chose  to volunteer with the Hospice is that two members of my family passed away at there. The care and the comfort the family received during this period was exceptional.  I felt I needed, and wanted to, give something back to them.  Fun fact - Working for the Hospice has become an extension of my social life and expensive I am always leaving the shop with a bargain.

"It's another's kept me in this world!"
