About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and highly motivated person to join the Reception Team as a Receptionist at Mountbatten Hospice, Isle of Wight.

As a receptionist you will be assisting and directing patients, relatives, and visitors of Mountbatten Hospice (Mountbatten) and make sure they access the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way. You will ensure a positive and friendly image is always maintained to patients and visitors, both in person, by email and over the telephone.

This is a very busy role, working with complex systems and with a large and varied workload. We are therefore looking for someone enthusiastic and excited to take on a new challenge. Reporting to the Reception Lead you will also provide cover for other administration duties as required.

About you

  • The post holder will be required to work flexibly 7 days a week 8:00am to 8:00pm working on a rota basis. You will regularly be required to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • You will have excellent customer service skills with a professional and pleasant manner, whilst being an excellent communicator. You will be a very valuable member of the Reception Team and assist in the provision of a high quality of service to visitors and other departments within Mountbatten.
  • You will have a flexible approach to working routines, the ability to do a variety of tasks at any one time and the ability to work within a team and alone is essential.
  • You will have good knowledge and experience of IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • You will be required to attend and maintain regular training courses and to follow the policies and procedures set down by Mountbatten Hospice.
  • Previous experience of working within a healthcare setting is desirable but not essential, and training will be provided to enhance the post holder’s skill set.
