The Schools Walk the Wight challenge.

Children take up the challenge of completing 26 miles, the distance of the main Walk the Wight route, during their everyday activities.

  • Sign up online today for your child to receive a walk map and sponsorship form to raise funds for Mountbatten.
  • Start clocking up the miles - we suggest 30 minutes of activity is one WTW mile. All activities count - walking, scooting, skating, running, jumping, playing sports etc.
  • Aim to reach 22 miles by Sunday 8 May, then walk the final four miles on the day of Walk the Wight (the Schools Walk), from Freshwater Bay to Alum Bay.
  • Walk starts at 10am but the start line is open until 11am. The walk will take around two hours to complete.
  • Receive a Walk the Wight medal when you cross the finish line at Alum Bay*.

*If a child completes their challenge without taking part on the day they receive their medal via their school after the event. All children who take part also receive a certificate of achievement via their school after the event.

Prefer just to walk the final four miles (the Schools Walk)?

If your child just wants to walk the Schools Walk on the day, they can, but still need to register.

One parent/guardian may accompany a registered child for free on the day. Anyone else wishing to walk with them will be asked to register on the day for a suggested minimum donation of £10 per adult and £5 for children.
