The prestigious Mountbatten Gift Fair has now raised more than £110,000 for the Island’s hospice.

This year’s event at Bembridge Sailing Club once again welcomed shoppers in their hundreds, with 30 traders selling boutique and high-end gifts for Christmas.

The fair raised £20,000, meaning its support for Mountbatten has now surpassed £110,000 in the six years it has been running.

“We were thrilled to present £20,000 to Mountbatten following another extremely successful gift fair,” said Rosamond Poncia, chair of the gift fair committee.

“To have raised so much over the last six years is amazing, especially as we had a virtual event during Covid.

“It was lovely to see so many people come to explore the different stalls and to show their support for Mountbatten.

“We need to get behind our Island hospice as much as we can, so we are really thrilled.”

A cheque was presented by the gift fair committee to Mountbatten staff today (Thursday).

“We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support shown to us by the committee, who do an amazing job of raising so much money for us every year,” said Nigel Hartley, Mountbatten CEO.

“In these very challenging times for everyone, we really need all the help we can get from our Island community.

“Thank you to everyone who visited the fair and thank you again to the committee for everything they do for us.”
