Supporters from all walks of life will be among those to take on the Portsmouth Spinnaker Tower abseil THIS Saturday, 18 July, in aid of Mountbatten Isle of Wight.

This is the first time the charity has challenged its fundraisers in this way and it’s set to reach new heights, over Gunwharf Quays.

Climbing to the top of one of the south-coast’s most iconic buildings, with stunning views of the Isle of Wight and the English Channel, the fundraisers will descend from a height equivalent to around five double-decker busses.

They are raising money, through sponsorship, for end-of-life care, delivered by Mountbatten Isle of Wight.

On the Isle of Wight, Mountbatten reaches around 70 per cent of all deaths, compared to a national average of 30 per cent. Care is delivered on Mountbatten’s inpatient unit and through day and outpatient services, while 80 per cent of Mountbatten’s support is in Islanders’ homes.

Community fundraiser, Harri McNeil said: “The only way is down at this incredible challenge and we can’t wait to support our fundraisers, on Saturday, 18 July. Fabulous views await and we hope they aren’t too nervous to enjoy them. Their bravery is helping to change lives and deaths on the Isle of Wight.”
