A launch event has been held to introduce a Walk the Wight-inspired board game and its creators are now taking pre-orders, before it officially goes into production.

A group of talented Island VI Form students are behind a business called 'Boundless Wight' and their success recently won them the first Isle of Wight High Sheriff's award for 2026/7.

Originally set up as part of the Young Enterprise Scheme, the 'Boundless Wight' teenagers are now taking the next step — turning their award-winning concept into a real business.

The game costs £45 for one or £80 for two.

A recent launch event, held at the Island VI Form, featured guests including High Sheriff, Nigel Hartley, MBE, Isle of Wight Council chair Ian Dore, representatives from Mountbatten Isle of Wight (including CEO Becky McGregor (above centre, with Walk the Wight event lead, Ashleigh Gibbs, left, and the Boundless Wight team)), business owners, and family and friends.

Also on hand was Boundless Wight business adviser, Quarr Abbey's, Tracy Osborn.

About the Walk the Wight board game

Born from the conviction that the best way to appreciate where we live is to experience it, the Walk the Wight board game is a classic with a twist. Navigate around the Island — follow the Walk the Wight route — and try to collect the most sunflowers, inspired by Mountbatten's enduring logo.

Along the way, you’ll encounter a variety of dynamic gameplay cards that dictate your journey and these will also challenge you to step outside, into the 'real' world, to engage with your local community and explore the Island's hidden gems.

Playing pieces are made on the Isle of Wight, from recycled plastic.

Award-winning

As the Young Enterprise competition progressed, Boundless Wight was named Best Isle of Wight Company and Best Company at the south east regional finals. It also scooped the Delta Airlines Pursuit of Opportunity award, at the national finals in Cardiff.

Competition judges praised their creativity and resilience, as well as the game's strong community focus.

Along the way, the team picked up numerous awards for marketing and finance.

They still found time to take part in Walk the Wight, in May.
