To update knowledge and skill in male and female urethral catheterisation.

This Session is for Registered Practitioners. 

Methods

Presentation, discussion, demonstration and practical.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate theoretical knowledge of the anatomy of the urinary tract

  • Discuss the possible complications of catheterisation in both male and females

  • Demonstrate an awareness of personal limitations i.e., refer to a more experienced practitioner

  • Explanation and rationale for procedure 

  • Participate in a practical demonstration on male and female mannequin using a non-touch technique.

We will provide a certificate of attendance only. This session will not check or sign off competencies; a policy will need to be in place in your own workplace to ensure competencies are checked within the team.
