Time Trial Rules

The course will be explained at the briefing but will involve a Water Start between two buoys around a short course and a Water Finish between two buoys back at or near the Start Line.

The time will be taken from the moment that the first part of the Competitor’s body crosses the Start Line until the first part of the Competitor’s body crosses the Finish Line.

False starts or not going around the course will result in the time not being recorded.

Competitors can take part in more than one time trial; in which case the results will be based on their fastest time.

Conditions of Entry

The Organising Authority may alter the timetable or format of the Events or cancel one or both Events altogether if conditions are unsuitable.

In any case, it is the responsibility of each participant, whether in the Time Trial or the Coastal Cruise, to determine whether they are fit to participate in the conditions in which he or she will find themselves. By going to sea, the participant confirms their equipment is fit for those conditions and that he or she is competent to take part in them.

Prizes & Scoring System

A prize will be awarded to the winner of each Class, so long as there has been more than one entry in that Class.

The results of the Time Trial for each Class will be based on the fastest times recorded during the day.

Safety Equipment

Each participant, whether in the Time Trial or the Coastal Cruise, shall be connected to their Boards by a Leash and wear a personal flotation device at all times whilst afloat. These will be available if you need to borrow one.

Accommodation and Travel

Each participant will be responsible for arranging their own transport requirements. If coming from the Mainland, Wightlink Car Ferries run from Portsmouth to Fishbourne and Passenger Ferries run from both Portsmouth and Southsea to Ryde. Car ferry bookings should be made as soon as possible. It is also recommended that you check the passenger service timetable prior to travelling by telephoning Wightlink on 0871 3761000 or Hovertravel on 0239 2281 1000. Passengers using the Hovertravel or Wightlink services to Ryde can pre-book taxis from Ryde to Seaview by calling Ryde Taxis on 01983 811111.

Moorings for Cruising Yachts

A limited number of visitors' moorings are available off Seaview for yachts of up to 15 tons T.M. These should be booked in advance by contacting the Secretary of Sea View Yacht Club at the above address.
