Mountbatten’s favourite festive fun run – Santa Dash – is back for 2019.

The annual event regularly attracts hundreds of people dressed as Santa for the 5k run along Ryde Seafront.

It’s hoped this year’s event on Sunday 8 December will be bigger than ever, with registration for a discounted sign up cost now open.

“Santa Dash has become a really iconic event for us,” said Mountbatten’s major events fundraiser Hannah Joyce.

“We want to see hundreds of big and little Santas taking part, either running, jogging or walking, as well as lots of dogs dressed as reindeers.

“Santa Dash really gives everyone the chance to get in the Christmas spirit while also helping us support people experiencing death, dying and bereavement.

“The demand for our services keeps growing and we want to be there for anyone who needs us, so all the support we get is really important.”

Everyone involved will be invited to take part in a warm up at 11am.

The run takes in a circular route along Ryde Esplanade and back via Appley Park.

Many of Mountbatten’s staff and volunteers have already signed up and are looking forward to joining other runners on the day.

Santa Dash medals and mince pies will be given to all finishers.

Friends and family are welcome to cheer on runners and the Pavilion Bar and Grill will be open, close to the start and finish of Santa Dash.

Entry fees include a Santa suit for everyone aged three and over.

Anyone who raises more than £50 will be entered into a special prize draw.
